Azzedine Alaïa who briefly worked for both Dior and Guy Laroche had started his own couture business by the 1960s. Alaïa, who founded the Lycra revolution has A-List stars flaunting their waist with waist cinching belts. The Tunisian-born designer's vintage waist-cinching belts remain in high demand.
“Azzedine Alaïa designs the ultimate wide belts that are inspired by corsets, but are entirely modern,” says Cameron Silver, owner of Decades vintage store in Los Angeles. Silver adds, “An Alaïa belt should be treated like a piece of jewelry that will sculpt your body.”
